- Sod is perishable and must be installed IMMEDIATELY upon arrival. This is especially important during seasons of high temperatures.
- Begin sod installation with a straight line ( sidewalk, a wall, driveway, patio, etc.) and lay sod alongside.
- With the next row, stagger sod joints, like a brick wall. Be sure all sod edges are snuggly pushed together but not overlapping.
- You can use a utility knife to cut the sod to any size you need.
- As soon as there is an area large enough BEGIN WATERING!
- DO NOT WAIT UNTIL ALL SOD IS INSTALLED TO BEGIN WATERING. Continue to water areas as they are installed.
- Once all sod is installed, continue watering until the soil under the sod is completely soaked. The grass should be squishy but not sitting in water.
- To check proper moisture, lift various pieces of sod and ensure all soil under the new sod is wet.
- Do not re-enter the area until the ground has absorbed the water.
- See Step 4 for Watering Recommendations for new lawns.
- Avoid heavy traffic on your new lawn (including kids and pets) for the first 3- 4 weeks.
